The Mission of The Tayo Clinic is to provide free healthcare to uninsured and homebound Wisconsin-based patients through Telehealth services.
Approximately 5.9% of Wisconsin residents do not have medical insurance—amounting to about 300,000 to 350,000 people. Among these, an estimated 9,700 people are homebound, with an additional 50,000 to 100,000 individuals facing barriers to medical care due to physical illness, transportation challenges, or distrust in the healthcare system.
The Tayo Clinic exists to serve this vulnerable population. Our Telehealth services are tailored to reach uninsured and homebound patients who may otherwise go without care. We offer virtual primary care assessments to help patients decide whether they can safely manage symptoms at home or need to seek advanced medical attention.
We believe spiritual, physical, and mental healthcare is a fundamental human right. Our mission is to connect isolated patients to compassionate providers and to work in collaboration with community partners who support autonomy, dignity, and healing.
Our services are designed specifically for uninsured patients who are isolated or homebound. As a newly formed, volunteer-based organization, our capacity is currently limited. For those who are mobile or have insurance, free walk-in clinics and urgent care services may provide more comprehensive care.
The Tayo Clinic offers basic healthcare assessments through secure video visits. These visits are documented in your medical chart and may include guidance for managing common conditions at home. We are not currently equipped to perform in-person physical procedures, blood draws, or lab work.
In some cases, a provider may recommend a home visit, which is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, we urge you to call 911 or seek immediate in-person care.
Our goal is not to replace emergency or long-term care, but to fill the gap for those most in need—compassionately, respectfully, and free of charge.
